Marin HHS Environmental Health

Marin HHS has a designated Environmental Health Services (EHS) agency.

"The mission of Marin County Environmental Health Services is to protect public health and the well-  being of all Marin County residents, workers, and visitors by preventing injury and the spread of disease. We identify potentially dangerous and unhealthy situations and promote sound environmental health practices through education and the enforcement of public health statutes and regulations".

Marin's EHS protects, monitors, and maintains public health in various ways. It permits and inspects all food facilities in Marin County, inspects housing of 3 units or more, ensures the health and safety of all public pools, monitors the water quality of the oceans, bays, and fresh waterways, manages the septic systems integrity and safety, educates the community on how to use graywater, protects groundwater by overseeing well water and granting well permits, maintains proper solid waste and medical waste disposal.

In addition to managing environmental health, EHS educates the public and collaborates with businesses on ways of decreasing their individual environmental impact in building and energy usage.
